HANDBUILDING


Learn the world of pottery, to design and make hand built pottery 
from clay to be ceramic with handbuilding techniques

BEGINNER CLASS

This class is designed for the beginner who has never attended class or not having ceramics knowledge base or for those of you who like to recall the world of pottery.  

The participants took part in this class will earn :

  • Basic knowledge of pottery. 
  • Technical design and basic forming.
  • Pinching, coiling and slabbing techniques .
  • Basic knowledge and application of glazing. 
  • Get the open studio time for 20 hours. 
  • Get 10 kg of stoneware. 
  • Class for 4 weeks.
  • Class session once a week for 2 hr.
  • Maximum number of students per class-6 people.

2NTERMEDIATE CLASS

This Intermediate class for those who have followed the beginner class or a class of ceramics.

The participants took part in this class will earn :

  • Wall Decor technique.
  • Soft molding sculpture.
  • Pinching, coiling and slabbing techniques .
  • Surface texture and clay impression
  • Glazing. 
  • You are encouraged to be independent. 
  • Get the open studio time for 20 hours. 
  • Get 15 kg of stoneware. 
  • Class for 6 weeks.
  • Class session once a week for 2 hr.
  • Maximum number of students per class-6 people.

WHEEL THROWING

Learn the art of making pottery and create decorative 
and functional pottery using electric potter's wheel

BEGINNER CLASS

This class is designed for the beginner who has never attended class or not having ceramics knowledge base or for those of you who like to recall the world of pottery.  

The participants took part in this class will earn :

  • Basic knowledge of pottery. 
  • Technical design and basic forming.
  • Handbuilding techniques.
  • Centering, pulling walls, and shaping.
  • Trimming.
  • Basic knowledge and application of glazing. 
  • Get free open studio time for 20 hours. 
  • Get 10 kg of stoneware. 
  • Class for 6 weeks.
  • Class session once a week for 2 hr.
  • Maximum number of students per class-3 people.


The goal this of class is to give adults an introduction to the art of pottery and the ability to create functional pottery. We want you to learn what it takes to throw a pot, but it's just as important to us that you have a good experience.

Note: Teens ages 17 and up can enroll in this program. Ages 15 and 16 may be accepted if they take a minimum of three private lessons and found qualified to participate in an adult classes. Number of teens accepted in any class is limited.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS

This Intermediate class for those who have mastered wheel-throwing basic skills such as centering, pulling and trimming, we've designed a course that takes you to the next level with very carefully designed instruction material.

This class provides demonstrations and instruction on more complex forms such as :
  • Altered forms.
  • Surface texture on wheel.
  • Multiple parts. 
  • Medium vessels and other ideas.

- The instructor will demonstrate and assign class projects, such as bowls, covered jars, pitchers, or vases; advanced students will be encouraged to work independently. 

- Learn how to make your own glazes and glaze test technique.

- Learn various pottery decoration technique from the beginning process of making ceramic art until decoration on glazing process. 

- Learn how to do the firing , kiln operation, do evaluation on every step of firing process and making firing log. 

- Participants get free open studio time for 20 hours and no limit clay during class project and practicing sessions. 

- Class for 7 weeks.

- Class session once a week for 2 hr.


- Class fee Rp. 2.850.000.

  • Oriental glaze (tenmoku, celadon, chun, jun, copper red)
  • Soda and Salt firing.
  • Saggar firing.

  • Raku firing. ( Raku Dolce, Raku Sence dan Raku Japanese conventional) 


INFORMATION


Payment and Fees :
Payment in full by cash, credit card, or PayPal is due with registration at least two weeks prior to first class.

Cancellation Policy :
If cancellation is less than two weeks prior to first class, Rp.250.000 will be withheld from refunds. After the first class, no fees are refundable. Fees paid for the current session cannot be transferred as payment for the next class session. We reserve the right to cancel classes if the minimum enrollment is not reached; full tuition will be refunded.

Open Studio :One of the best features of classes at CH Pottery Studio is the extensive practice time available to students. If there is not another class or workshop in session, with very few exceptions, you are welcome to work in the studio from 2 am until 8 pm. We look forward to seeing you get dirty here !

Studio Photography Policy
Please be aware your photo may be taken while you participate in activities at CH Pottery Studio. Your participation in activities at CH Pottery Studio reserves as your permission for complimentary use of your image for promotional purposes.

Firings and Liabilities
Although instructors are urged to orient all students to safety, storage, disposal, and technical issues, mistakes can and do happen.  

CH Pottery Studio cannot guarantee the success or results of work produced in the classroom or from a firing.  

CH Pottery Studio is not liable for unsuccessful work, work that is broken, missing, or disposed.
What to bring to first class :
Bring a towel, and wear clothes you won’t mind getting dirty.  We’ll have tools you can borrow and introductory tool kits for you to purchase.

Participants Responsibilities :
As CH Pottery Studio attempts to create a professional learning situation, class members are expected to participate and active. 

Personal Space and Quiet  - Most of us are here to relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits pottery has to offer.  Therefore, we must be considerate of other people’s personal space and their desire for quiet.

During the class sessions no mobile phones allowed. Mobile phones can be used outside the classroom area.

Cleaning and returning all equipment and tools to their home.

Wiping down your entire work area (wheel and/or table)

Making sure the floor is clean.

No Clay down the sinks.

Production Policy 
In keeping with our educational focus, student use of studio facilities to produce goods for commercial sale is not acceptable. 

And we reserve the right to discontinue and prohibit because we are not a production studio.

Students making a large amount of work which exceeds classroom capacity may be asked to either pay extra for the firing or be requested to reduce their volume of work.

Studio Health and Safety
Pottery-making can be a potentially hazardous activity. It is the responsibility of every student to exercise caution at all times within the Pottery.
